Eighth graders engage with high school programs and local career paths |
On Friday, January 30, eighth-grade students at Buddy Taylor Middle School (BTMS) participated in the annual Career Expo, an event designed to bridge the gap between middle school education and future career opportunities.
Throughout the day, students rotated through various stations in the gymnasium, engaging with representatives from Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas High School. These high school students, currently enrolled in specialized programs, shared insights into the "Programs of Choice" available, highlighting pathways that connect classroom learning to real-world careers.
In addition to educational programs, the expo featured participation from local businesses, government agencies, law enforcement, and nonprofit organizations. This diverse representation provided students with a comprehensive view of the career opportunities within the Flagler County community.
Parents were also invited to attend, offering them a firsthand look at the programs and opportunities that will be available to their children as they transition into high school. The inclusion of families underscores the community's commitment to supporting students' educational and career planning.
Notably, eighth-grade students from Imagine School at Town Center joined the expo, emphasizing the collaborative effort to prepare all students in the region for their future endeavors.
Earlier in the month, on January 20, Indian Trails Middle School hosted its own Career Expo, reflecting a district-wide initiative to equip students with the knowledge and resources necessary for informed decision-making about their educational and professional futures.
These events, organized in partnership with the Flagler County Education Foundation, play a crucial role in connecting students with the myriad of opportunities that await them, ensuring they are well-prepared to step confidently into their futures. |
