Friends of A1A's 17th Annual Super Scenic Garage Sale Draws Hundreds Along 150-Mile Route |
Annual event spans Florida's A1A, fostering community engagement and economic growth |
The 17th Annual Super Scenic Garage Sale, organized by the Friends of A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway, took place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, stretching an impressive 150 miles from Fernandina Beach to Ponce Inlet.
This year's event saw participation from approximately 400 vendors, including community sites, local businesses, and individual homes, offering a diverse array of items to shoppers along the scenic coastal route.
Danielle Anderson, the event coordinator, highlighted the event's growth and its positive impact on local communities.
"The cities are finding value in doing it," Anderson noted.
"They're providing a service for their residents, and they're creating exposure for small businesses."
Major community sites included the Heckscher Drive Community Center in Jacksonville, the First Coast Cultural Center in Ponte Vedra Beach, and the Flagler Beach United Methodist Church.
These hubs attracted numerous vendors and shoppers, fostering a vibrant marketplace atmosphere.
The garage sale, which originally spanned 72 miles along A1A, expanded to 150 miles in 2018 to include neighboring Florida Scenic Highways such as the A1A Ocean Islands Trail, the Ormond Scenic Loop, and the Halifax Heritage Byway.
This expansion has allowed for greater community involvement and increased economic benefits for the regions along the route.
Proceeds from the event support the Friends of A1A's initiatives, including the Kid’s Ocean Day environmental education field trip and the free mobile audio tour.
These projects aim to enhance visitor experiences and promote environmental stewardship along the A1A corridor.
Anderson emphasized the event's role in supporting local economies, noting that many participants rely on the income generated during the garage sale to assist with holiday expenses.
"One of the Friends of A1A’s foundational pillars is economic development, which the Garage Sale plays right into," she stated.
The success of this year's Super Scenic Garage Sale underscores the event's significance in bringing together communities, supporting small businesses, and celebrating the unique charm of Florida's coastal regions.
As the event continues to grow, it remains a testament to the collaborative spirit and resilience of the communities along the A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway. |
