Belle Terre Elementary's Michelle Moore and FPC's Calvin Grant Receive Prestigious Awards |
Michelle Moore, an exceptional education teacher at Belle Terre Elementary School, was named the 2025-2026 Flagler Schools Teacher of the Year during the district's annual awards gala on January 26 at the Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center.
Overwhelmed by the recognition, Moore expressed, "I owe this honor to the whole team that I work with because I couldn't do it without them." She teaches kindergarten and first grade in the school's autism unit and looks forward to the professional development opportunities that accompany this accolade.
Joining her in the spotlight, Calvin Grant, a campus security officer at Flagler Palm Coast High School (FPC), was honored as the 2025-2026 Employee of the Year. Grant, an FPC alumnus from the class of 1977, has dedicated 26 years to the school, including a tenure as a school resource deputy with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Reflecting on his role, Grant stated, "The relationship that my team has with the students encourages me to be a better person every day. I just love what I do."
The awards ceremony, themed "Legacy by the Sea," celebrated educators and staff from across the district. Principal of the Year was awarded to Bobby Bossardet of FPC, and Assistant Principal of the Year went to Abra Seay. Seay, who nearly missed the event due to the birth of her sixth grandchild, emphasized the collective effort behind her recognition, stating, "This honor is not about me. It's about us because leadership has never been about one person."
Last year's Teacher of the Year, Brandy Anderson from Indian Trails Middle School, was also acknowledged for her achievement as a top-five finalist for Florida's Teacher of the Year. The evening underscored the district's commitment to excellence and the profound impact of its educators and staff on the community. |
