River-to-Sea Preserve Access Closure for Dune Restoration

Main entrance to close February 2; MalaCompra Park reopening early February

Flagler County is set to commence the next phase of its emergency dune restoration project at the River-to-Sea Preserve, necessitating the closure of the main access point starting February 2.

The parking lot at the preserve will remain closed until March 13 to facilitate the movement of construction equipment from MalaCompra Park to the new site.

Sand deliveries to the preserve are scheduled to begin on February 6.

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution around construction equipment and sand delivery trucks during this period.

In related developments, MalaCompra Park is slated to reopen in early February, following its own phase of dune restoration.

These efforts are part of a broader initiative to restore and protect Flagler County's coastline, which has been significantly impacted by recent storms.

For more information on the county's beach restoration projects, residents can visit the Flagler County Beach Brief, a dedicated online resource providing real-time updates on these efforts.

Additionally, the county has launched a new online landing page providing real-time updates on the county's comprehensive beach nourishment and restoration efforts along its 18-mile Atlantic coastline.

For further details, please contact Flagler County's Public Works Department.
