Teen Brothers Face Disparate Bonds in Flagler County Gun Burglary Case |
17-Year-Old Held on $190,000 Bond, While 18-Year-Old Brother Posts $60,000 Bond |
Alan Jaramillo-Hernandez, a 17-year-old from Live Oak, appeared before Circuit Judge Dawn Nichols last week, facing serious charges related to a series of gun burglaries in West Flagler County.
Charged as an adult, Alan faces five counts of armed burglary, each carrying potential life sentences, among other felonies.
Initially held without bond, his attorney successfully petitioned for a bond hearing.
Judge Nichols set his bond at $190,000.
In contrast, his 18-year-old brother, Angel Jaramillo-Hernandez, facing identical charges, was able to post a $60,000 bond in Suwannee County.
The discrepancy arises because bond amounts can vary between judicial circuits, as each operates independently.
The brothers, along with Lucas Rebolledo, 19, and Dwayne Ryan, 18, are accused of a burglary spree on the night of August 28-29.
They allegedly targeted multiple properties in West Flagler, stealing firearms and other valuables.
Alan was arrested on September 15 and held at a Department of Juvenile Justice facility for 21 days.
Following his adult charges, his bond was set at $190,000.
His family faces challenges in raising the necessary funds for his release.
Judge Nichols also imposed a condition prohibiting Alan from contacting any co-defendants, including his brother.
Both brothers have pleaded not guilty, with pre-trial hearings scheduled for December and January.
The case underscores the complexities of the judicial system and the varying bond determinations across different jurisdictions. |
