We are thrilled to announce Palm Coast, Florida's latest business addition! 🌟 Stay tuned for exciting updates on community initiatives and opportunities in the heart of Palm Coast!

  • Flagler County Commissioners Vote to Increase Impact Fees for Parks and Roads by 2025
  • Funding from City and School Board crucial for timing of $16 million YMCA facility in Palm Coast.

In a recent decision, Flagler County Commissioners voted to increase impact fees on new residential construction to fund parks and roads by 2025.

The fee will rise from $3,898 to $7,309 for parks and from $2,504 to $4,970 for roads.

Commissioners hope the increase will help alleviate the strain on infrastructure caused by population growth.

The decision has sparked controversy among builders and realtors, who argue that the fees will make housing less affordable for residents.

Nonetheless, officials believe the higher fees are necessary to meet the demands of a growing community.

The timing of the YMCA's $16 million facility in Palm Coast may depend on whether the city and school board provide financial contributions.

The YMCA is requesting $300,000 from the city and $300,000 from the school board to help fund the project.

If these contributions are not provided, the facility may be delayed.

The goal is to have the facility open by May 2022, but without additional funding, this timeline may be at risk.

The YMCA is looking to secure the necessary funds to move forward with the project.

Exploring Florida's Springs: Snorkeling and Kayaking Safety

Florida’s natural springs are among the most breathtaking outdoor destinations — perfect for snorkeling, kayaking, and connecting with nature.

But before you dive in, it’s important to follow key safety practices to protect both yourself and these fragile ecosystems.

  • Know the Environment: Research the spring you’re visiting.

Some have strong currents or limited access points.

Check park rules and weather forecasts before heading out.
  • Gear Up Properly: Use a well-fitted snorkel mask, life vest, and fins.

When kayaking, always wear a U.S.

Coast Guard-approved life jacket and secure loose gear.
  • Stay Aware of Wildlife: Manatees, turtles, and fish are common in Florida’s springs.

Maintain a respectful distance and never attempt to touch or feed them.
  • Practice Buddy Safety: Never snorkel or kayak alone.

Keep visual contact with your companion and establish hand or paddle signals for communication.
  • Protect the Springs: Avoid standing on underwater vegetation or stirring up sediment.

Use reef-safe sunscreen to help preserve the water’s clarity and ecosystem.
  • Hydration and Sun Protection: Bring water, wear a hat, and reapply sunscreen often.

Florida’s sun and humidity can cause dehydration faster than you think.

Tip: Early mornings are the best time to explore — fewer crowds, calmer waters, and better visibility for spotting wildlife.

⚠️ Safety: Always respect park regulations, stay within designated swimming and kayaking zones, and avoid alcohol before or during water activities.

Your safety depends on awareness and preparation.
